Chhattisgarh carved out of Madhya Pradesh came into being on 1 November 2000 as the 26th State of the Union. The state of Chhattisgarh has an area of 1, 35,191 sq. km., 18 districts and a population of 25.54 million.The State has population density of 154 per sq. km. (as against the national average of 312). The Total Fertility Rate of the State is 3.0. The Infant Mortality Rate is 48 and Maternal Mortality Ratio is 335 (SRS 2004 – 2006) which are higher than the National average. Only 435 doctors are available at PHC level versus the need for 755 doctors, which translates to a shortage of 40%.
Piramal Swasthya currently operates 104 Arogya Seva Health Information Helpline Call centre in Chhattisgarh. This 30 seater Health Information Helpline operates 24 x7, throughout the year. The call centre is located in Raipur and can handle a call volume of 2,500 calls a day. Since its launch in September 2013 the call centre has received 209157 calls.
The call centre is equipped with well-trained paramedics, counsellors, doctors, specialists and uses Piramal Swasthya’s algorithm and disease summary. This Health Helpline provides medical advice services, counselling services, information on public health facilities and schemes and grievance redress service to address complaints against healthcare related officials.
